| Description | Board Game Description Just Say It. This game will incorporate pronunciation (phonology) and / or letter recognition. Our audience is Pre K but the game would most likely have an adult player as well. So in some senses, the audience is two-fold. The game mechanics will most likely include cards. Probably in different groups depending on the targeted sounds or letters. It might even be versatile enough that cards targeting other needs such as vocabulary development could be used as well. Melissa Hughes (Elementary Teacher) is our Content Expert. Daniel Pearson (me - Multimedia Teacher) is the Graphics Guy. We both have access to the audience (our pre K children) does that make us audience experts? We would welcome any one who might add to our expertise that would be interested in helping us develop this game. Some of the inspiration for this game comes from my 4 year old daughters experiences in speech therapy. She has difficulty with certain sounds. We have speech cards that we use with her to practice those sounds. One way we do it is to read a card before each turn of what ever game we happen to be playing. Today, we played Crackers in Bed, a matching game. One of the shapes of one of the crackers matched one of the cards (sounds) we were practicing. It was house. But it was pure coincidence... could the whole experience have been more powerful if it was not coincidence? Can we design a game working on these phonological concepts that both parent and child enjoy playing? |
