EDTEC 670 Board Game Project Proposal Detail

If you think this is one of the projects you might want to work on, print this page out or bookmark it.

TitleCommand Center: U.S. Coast Guard
DescriptionMy idea is a board game dealing with the missions of the U.S. Coast Guard. It would be a decision-making strategy game. At the start of the game, a player would spin to be assigned a new mission. After receiving the mission, the player will roll a die to determine how many assets they have available to accomplish the mission. Each asset will have certain characteristics which might make them faster, able to go further out to sea, or able to carry more survivors, etc. A mission will be considered accomplished when the unit returns safely back to home base.

Different missions would be worth different points. For example, points are awarded for each life saved. Lives saved will be worth more than drug interdiction which would be worth more than stopping illegal fishing, etc.

Randomization will be provided by cards which will change the weather or circumstances of the mission, As more missions are completed, the players will get promoted to the next rank (based on actual Coast Guard ranks). The winner will be the person who is the highest rank at the end of the game. Whitney Houck and Gale Young are already on the team, but we are willing to take another person especially if they have Illustrator or Photoshop skills. This is one of two game ideas that our group has.
