EDTEC 670 Board Game Project Proposal Detail

If you think this is one of the projects you might want to work on, print this page out or bookmark it.

TitleFootprint Tracker
DescriptionAudience: 7-8 grade students (maybe older)

Subject: The game teaches students about Carbon Footprints and primarily focuses on math and science but incorporates some social studies.

Goal: The object of the game is to finish with the lowest carbon footprint.

How to Play:
Students will start the game with a profile that gives them their carbon footprint. This is done by selecting from "profile" cards that gives them information about the car they drive, where their home is located, how miles they drive each year, and a couple of other factors (household size, etc.) with points associated with each card they select.

Once they know what their footprint is, they enter that into a score card in which they use during the game to add and subtract carbon points they earn as they move around the game board.

Using a spinner, students will move around a game board that includes prompts and instructions that allow them to add and subtract points.

We may even include some kind of bonus or challenge section. For example, answer this question and move ahead xx spaces/receive xx carbon credits or ways to give points to other players.

The person who finishes the game with the least amount of carbon points wins.
