Bernie Dodge, Ph.D.

Bernie DodgeDr. Bernie Dodge is a Professor of Learning Design and Technology (formerly Educational Technology) at San Diego State University (SDSU). He teaches LDT 670, (Games and Simulations for Learning), LDT 561 (Advanced Multimedia), LDT 671 (Augmented and Virtual Reality Learning Environments) and LDT 640, (Psychology of Technology-based Learning).

In the earliest days of the World Wide Web, Dr. Dodge developed the WebQuest model, a framework for engaging learners with web-based material while practicing higher level thinking skills. WebQuests continue to be a staple of teacher education programs around the world.

Dr. Dodge is actively engaged in learning analytics research. His current study of large, blended courses at SDSU aims to identify undergraduates falling behind and to develop interventions that will get them back on track. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Dodge is a Faculty Fellow at SDSU’s Instructional Technology Services where he works with other faculty converting their courses for online delivery.
